The war against Ukraine will likely end with Russia's political capitulation, Azerbaijani military expert Agil Rustamzade has said in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Olena Trybushna.
He expressed the opinion that the war will most likely end with Russia's political defeat, since the military defeat of the country with nuclear weapons is impossible.
According to Rustamzade, Russia should be pushed into political defeat by significant military losses.
"(This could happen) when the Russian political elites come to an understanding that the war must be ended, that they have outplayed themselves, that the war will turn Russia into North Korea, and I think they can realize this, when in three-four months the Russian army is massively destroyed on the territory of Ukraine and Ukraine approaches its borders meter-by-meter," he said.
"If Ukraine reaches the borders of Feb. 24 in three-five months, I think there may be a change in Russia's political paradigm and they will accept a political defeat."
The military expert added that Russia's political defeat would likely be preceded by its political or military capitulation.
"The realization that they have lost in Ukraine is stage one, while stage two is already Russia vs. the West, such as the withdrawal of the nuclear arsenal and other elements," Rustamzade said.
Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak said on June 21 that a peace treaty with Russia is possible only when Ukraine restores its territorial integrity.
