Zambia joins the communiqué of the Global Peace Summit - Zelenskyy
Zambia joined the communiqué following Global Peace Summit held on June 15-16 in Switzerland, Ukrainian President wrote on X on June 20.
President thanked Zambia for supporting efforts to achieve "sustainable, comprehensive and just peace" and informed about the growing support for the peace summit and its final communiqué on all continents, particularly in Africa.
"We appreciate that Zambia, along with other African countries, takes a clear position in support of the UN Charter, peace and progress," Zelenskyy added.
Peace Formula is an inclusive format that allows each state to "speak out and contribute to the achievement of common goals," Zelenskyy said.
He also called on all countries to join the communiqué and implementation of the Peace Formula.
"Together we are able to restore peace, stable development and mutual respect in international relations," the President of Ukraine summarized.
Iraq and Jordan had withdrawn their signatures from the final communiqué on June 16.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva explained that these countries did not sign the communiqué on the results of the peace summit, and their appearance on the list of signatories was a "technical failure."
Global Peace Summit in Switzerland
On June 15-16, Switzerland hosted the first Global Peace Summit initiated by Ukraine, where Russia was not invited. China refused to participate in the event.
Summit was attended by 100 delegations, including 57 heads of state and government from all regions of the world.
The final communiqué of the summit was signed by 78 countries and four delegations. Among those who did not sign the document were Saudi Arabia, India, Mexico, South Africa, Brazil, and the UAE.
Some participants were not authorized to join the declaration because they were represented at a level lower than the head of government, some had to first go through "parliamentary procedures" in their country, and some "need a little more time", said Zhovkva.
In the document, participating countries condemn Russia's war against Ukraine, insist on ensuring operation of nuclear power plants, release of prisoners, and maintaining safe commercial shipping and access to seaports in Black and Azov Seas.
