Zelenskyy announces launch of Army+ app to streamline military processes

Ukraine has officially launched the Army+ app, aimed at freeing the military from paperwork and reducing bureaucracy, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced during a presentation of the app on Aug. 8, news agency Interfax-Ukraine reported.
Army+ is set to become the second element of the digital state after the Diia app, Zelenskyy said.
"The Army+ app will be launched today," he said.
“It will start with a basic function, but we will fill it with new functions, in particular, electronic reports, when in a few minutes and clicks you can do what currently takes hours and even days.”
Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov added that starting today, the military will be able to fill out reports electronically, which is the most needed digital service in the army. Specifically, soldiers will be able to file appeals for vacation, assistance, or rehabilitation on the platform.
Later, the app will integrate services for families of service members, including banking, training, digital document management, medical services, logistics, personnel issues, and feedback.
"The app solves all our issues in one click," Umerov said.
An order will be signed today together with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and "this application will be working already," the defense chief added.
The purpose of the app is to free the Ukrainian army from the burden of paperwork, said President Zelenskyy. "So that commanders and soldiers do not waste their time on outdated and unnecessary bureaucracy and paperwork," he said.
In the next stages of Army+ development, the app will include other features to help soldiers fulfill all their social and communication needs while on duty. This will include courses and training programs.
"First, we will start with electronic reports and continue with clearance chits and all other papers," Zelenskyy said, adding that the app will provide reliable communication between soldiers, including secure chats.
Media reported in March 2024 that a team of IT specialists from the Ministry of Defense, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, was developing the Army+ mobile application. At that time, its launch was planned for the summer.
