Zelenskyy to meet with Western Balkans leaders, Greek PM in Athens
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has left Denmark for Athens, Greece, to attend an Aug. 21 dinner with the leaders of the Western Balkan countries, Greek newspapers Athens Voice and To Vima reported on Aug. 20.
The event has been organized by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Western Balkan leaders, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel, are expected to meet at the Maximos Mansion (Mitsotakis's official residence) to discuss the region's European future.
The Greek authorities did not officially confirm or deny information about Zelenskyy's visit when asked by journalists.
Zelenskyy visited Sweden, the Netherlands, and Denmark on Aug. 19-20. Amsterdam and Copenhagen subsequently promised to transfer 61 U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv. The Dutch will provide 42, and the Danish - 19.
Ukrainian pilots have also started training on Sweden-made Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets, while Kyiv and Stockholm agreed to jointly produce CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles.
