Emergency power outages were implemented in Kyiv and across multiple Ukrainian regions on the morning of Nov. 17 following a massive missile and drone attack by Russian forces.
According to DTEK, the energy supply company, the blackouts were ordered by Ukrenergo and have affected Kyiv, as well as the Kyiv, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Cherkasyoblenergo also reported that emergency outage schedules were introduced in the Cherkasy region.
Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko later confirmed that Russian forces targeted power generation and transmission facilities across the country.
"The grid operator has urgently activated emergency power shutdowns. Where possible, rescue crews and energy workers are already working to address the damage," Halushchenko said.
