Russian missile intercepted with Browning heavy machine gun in Vinnytsia Oblast
A mobile fire team from the National Guard destroyed a Russian cruise missile over Vinnytsia Oblast using a large-caliber Browning machine gun, the military wrote on their Telegram on Nov. 17.
This occurred during Russia’s combined mass attack on Ukraine on the morning of Nov. 17.
After being hit, the missile changed its trajectory and fell in a field, with no further detonation reported.
Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine on Nov. 17
During the night and morning of Nov. 17, Russia attacked Ukraine's energy generation and transmission facilities using various types of missiles and drones. Explosions were reported in Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, and Kryvyi Rih.
The aftermath of the attack is as follows:
- Emergency power outages were implemented in Kyiv and several oblasts
- In Vinnytsia, critical infrastructure was hit
- Energy facilities in Volyn Oblast were damaged
- Missile debris caused fire in Lviv’s Sheptytskyi district, setting garages and a car ablaze.
The Russian forces launched 210 missiles and drones, of which 144 were intercepted, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian pilots operating F-16 fighter jets shot down approximately 10 aerial targets in the attack.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
