Russian forces struck the Chornobaivska poultry farm in Ukraine's Kherson Oblast with guided aerial bombs on July 3, causing a major fire at what its owner says is Europe's largest poultry production facility on July 4.
Fire and explosions destroyed a significant portion of the production complex. The company has preliminarily estimated the damage at hundreds of millions of dollars.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service said firefighters have extinguished the large blaze. No injuries were reported.
The Chornobaivska poultry farm is one of the largest and most technologically advanced poultry production facilities in Ukraine and Europe, according to Ukrlandfarming, the company's parent group.
During Russia's occupation of Kherson Oblast in 2022, the poultry farm was completely cut off from electricity and blockaded by Russian forces, resulting in the deaths of 4.7 million birds. Ukrlandfarming said Russian troops also looted the facility, removing modern equipment and vehicles and destroying much of its infrastructure.
