Demand for home insurance
and blast-resistant window film is one the rise in Russia, Reuters reported
on Sept. 10.
Demand for Solartek’s film, which is applied to glass to prevent shards from scattering, rose 50% in 2026, according to a manager at the St. Petersburg-based company. The manager said the company’s customers include individuals, businesses and government agencies. Solartek has offices in 13 Russian regions.
“The product has become so popular that Russia is now experiencing a shortage of protective film,” he said.
Russians are also seeking insurance for their property. Oleg Khanin, CEO of Soyuz Insurance Brokers, said there had been virtually no demand for policies covering drone strikes in the past. But the number of inquiries has surged over the past year.
“We sit in our Moscow office, while clients from across Russia call all our phone lines and write to all our email addresses,” Khanin said.
The company now offers insurance packages covering drone attacks.
“As Russia prepares for its first parliamentary election since the launch of its full-scale war in February 2022, those concerns are becoming harder to ignore,” Reuters noted.
“But the Kremlin will be watching turnout and election
results closely as a gauge of
public anxiety and war fatigue as Putin presses ahead with his military
objectives.”
