Ukraine denies Russian presence in Kupyansk and Illinka — General Staff

The Ukrainian military has denied reports that Russian forces had entered the town of Kupyansk in Kharkiv Oblast and had captured the town of Illinka in Donetsk Oblast, in a Telegram post on Nov. 14.
Ukrainian defense forces halted a Russian advance on Kupyansk, destroying all armored vehicles and eliminating much of the enemy’s manpower, the military said in a statement.
“Kupyansk is fully under the control of Ukraine’s defense forces,” the statement reads.
Fighting continues near Illinka in Donetsk Oblast, but Ukrainian forces are holding their ground, the military added.
On Nov. 14, DeepState analysts had reported Russian advances near Kupyansk and claimed the capture of Illinka. However, Andriy Besedin, head of the Kupyansk city military administration, said the occupiers briefly entered the city but were unable to establish control.
Oleksandr Kovalenko, head of the National Security Council's counter-disinformation center, also denied reports that Russian forces had entrenched in the city.
On Nov. 13, the Ukrainian General Staff said Russian forces attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses in the Kupyansk area, with some Russian troops wearing Ukrainian uniforms. DeepState analysts later confirmed that the Russians launched a limited offensive with armored vehicles but were repelled by Ukrainian forces.
