Russia’s repeated strikes on Kharkiv have now caused over $10 billion in widespread damages
Russia has now caused over $10 billion worth of damages to Kharkiv since begin its war of aggression and conquest in 2022, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said on Jan. 30.
One of Ukraine’s most targeted centers, Kharkiv has seen at least 157 high-rise buildings and nearly 60 schools damaged since February 2022.
Two-thirds of Kharkiv’s healthcare facilities, over half of its educational institutions, and over one-third of its cultural centers have suffered damage, he said. “Thousands of residential buildings” have also been destroyed.
"Our aim for 2024 is to restore 57 schools and 157 high-rise buildings, all in varying states of disrepair due to the war,” Terekhov said. “Altogether, Kharkiv's losses, factoring in the recent bombardments, have soared to $10 billion."
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
