Russian forces intensify aerial bombardment on Sumy Oblast, dropping over 100 guided bombs in two days
The Russian troops used 100+ guided aerial bombs on Sumy Oblast's border areas in the last 48 hours, Sumy Governor Volodymyr Artyukh reported on Aug. 9.
This marks a significant surge in aerial strikes, comparing to previous period.
The frequency of artillery and multiple rocket launcher (MLRS) attacks has decreased.
Artyukh attributed this decline to the actions of Ukrainian defense forces, who have been targeting and destroying Russian firing positions and ammunition depots.
The Russian forces launched guided bombs on a school in Mohrytsia village, Sumy Oblast on Aug. 8.
The attack killed a 22-year-old man and his 6-year-old sister, who were in the schoolyard at the time of the attack.
Local authorities recently mandated the evacuation of 23 settlements in Sumy Oblast in response to the escalating Russian strikes.
