A Russian ballistic missile and drone barrage targeted Kyiv overnight on September 17, wounding 18 people, including a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, local officials reported.
The attack struck more than ten locations across the city.
The strikes damaged warehouses, offices, apartment buildings, and multiple vehicles in the city’s Dniprovskyi district.
First responders remain on-site clearing debris and conducting search-and-rescue operations among the damaged buildings and neighboring homes, according to emergency officials. All of the wounded have received emergency medical care.
The attacks also damaged a warehouse in the Solomianskyi district, punctured the roof of a commercial building in the Podilskyi district, and tore through another warehouse and several vehicles in the Darnytskyi district.
The continuous overnight air assault also targeted Kyivvodokanal, the capital's municipal water utility. The strike temporarily cut off water service across the city's Left Bank and dropped utility pressure in several Right Bank neighborhoods, though emergency crews successfully completed repairs and fully restored service by morning.
Overnight strikes also damaged infrastructure at the Mykilska Slobidka station on the capital's commuter rail line. As a result, the Kyiv City Express is operating on a shortened loop, completely bypassing the Darnytsia-Pochaina section while crews spend the day completing emergency repairs.
