UFA president detained over embezzlement and failure to comply with court decisions

The president of the Ukrainian Football Association or UFA, Andriy Pavelko, has been detained in connection with the embezzlement of funds allocated for the construction of an artificial grass factory for football fields, Ukrainian portal FootballHub reported on June 16.
A Lviv court has changed his measure of restraint from bail to arrest for 60 days until Aug. 14.
One of the main reasons to do so was Pavelko's failure to comply with the decision for his suspension from office. There were a lot of reports on Facebook that he continued to act as the UFA’s president.
The bail of about UAH 10 million ($270,000), which UAF Marketing company paid for Pavelko last year in November, will be transferred to the state, FootballHub wrote.
He also didn't comply with other court's decisions. Thus, Pavelko did not appear on April 4 and 6 in the Kyiv Court of Appeal to hear an appeal against his removal from the post of president of the UFA until May 13, 2023.
